Titles suck

Finished the little taggie lovey for a friend’s baby shower. I got the idea and instructions from mmmcrafts. I veered off in a bit of a different direction from hers and the original tutorial that she links to. For the fabric, I used some baby pajamas I had from when the muchkin was a baby. Light blue, slightly textured, with a cute bear applique. I cut out two circles from the fabric, one from back and one from the front. The circle from the front spanned the opening and included the bear appliques and snaps. I used this piece as the back so I could just stuff it through the opening of the snaps, then just sewed up the seam. It’s a very simple and quick project. I highly suggest it if you need a fast baby gift.

I don’t have this next project on my list. It’s really more of a boredom project - something to do when I have a few minutes here and there, at work, etc. Disney sells little vinyl figurines in a line called Vinylmation. They sell some that are blank that you can design yourself. I got a while one a while back and drew up a little sketch of the munchkin to draw on it. I was told by a salesman at the vinylamtion store at Disney that sharpee markers work best. I finally started on it this past week. I have the basic lines drawn on and I’ll fill in the color as I have time. My mom got me a pink one, so I need to figure out what to draw on that one. Any suggestions?

Next up, making the canopy to go on the munchkin’s bed. Last year, we found her her toddler bed was recalled, so we decided to build her a twin bed instead of get her another toddler bed. We found instructions on Ana White’s site (amazing plans - all for free) for a canopy day bed and built it. I went out and picked up fabric for a canopy but haven’t had a chance to actually work on it. And couldn’t get to my sewing machine because my craft room was a mess, too. Now the room is somewhat cleaner and the time has come to finally get this canopy made so the munchkin can have her princess bed. I’ll post updates as I go along, since this one will probably take a little time.

If you're keeping track, I've added to the list - and will be adding yet another project (need to make a gift for a baby shower). Good news; I got two projects crossed off this week. I finished taking in the cute little sparkly silver skirt for my munchkin - note to self: make sure to check the tag for the correct size before buying something - so she can wear it now. I also made a cute little Valentine's Day wreath with paper hearts. I combined two ideas. This heart wreath made from toilet paper tubes found at The Thriftress and the stapled heart garland found on Impress Your Kids. It went really quickly, a couple of hours to cut the strips of paper and staple them together. I used a length of pretty lace I had in my stash to hang it. It looks great. Now I just have to figure out how to store it for next year.

I have another project that I added to my list. I got this kit to make felt brownies with "icing" (made with brown hot glue sticks) and a little felt tray to go with them. Can't wait to make this for hte muchkin.

Finished up the hooded scarf. Excited to give it to my friend next week before she heads to colder climes. I used the small knifty knitter round loom to do the main scarf, adding stitches to make the hood part in the middle, then I stretched the hood part onto the large loom and added a rim to it. Happy with the way it turned out. I found a whole bunch of knitting loom patterns online to try out in the future. I posted them to my pinterest boards if anyone wants to give it a try. Here's a pic of my project:

Time to start my next project! Well, not a "project" per se. Just something I need to do before I forget. lol. Have to take in a pretty sparkly silver skirt I got for my munchkin in a size too large. Then it's on to more crafty stuff as I create a wreath for Valentine's Day. Stay tuned.

Project Update

Still work on my first project, a lovely scarf I'm doing on my knifty knitter. I'm even attemptig to do a hooded scarf (a scarf with a "hood" attached), though, I'm winging it, so we'll see how it turns out. Here's some more info as well as some patterns and tutorials on the knifty knitter. I've been posting some patterns up in my pinterest account lately, too. There are other knitting looms, too, but this is the one I have. It comes in sets and is relatively inexpensive. I do want to buy another type that has smaller pegs, or maybe I can make one with some wood and nails. If I try it out or get a new one, I'll let you know. I'm using some really pretty purple yarn that I had at home, plus a stripe of a soft variagated yarn. The ends are another shade of purple, just to add some interest. Maybe I'll try to do a rim around the hood part in the same yarn I'm doing on the ends. Depends how much time I have since I have a deadline of the end of the month. Yikes! Anyway, here are some pics of the item in progress:

Starting on my first project. The color: purple. Using my knitting looms. Some might think of this as "cheating", but they're great when you're trying to make something that looks nice in a short time. I'll write more and post some pics as I make some progress

Welcome to my brand new blog. This blog is partly a way for me to share my craft interests, ideas, tips, techniques, etc., and partly a way for me to take charge of my crafting. As I was recently cleaning out my craft room, I realized how many projects I have left unifnished, and how many supplies I haven't used in far too long, so I am making a list of things to get done by year's end. I am sure this list will grow throughout the year as I find and think of new things to create. As I work, I will post pics and tips, tutorials I make and find, links to great web sites, and anything else I think folks might find interesting. So come along with me on my journey of creation.
